Ben walks alone…
Or to put it more accurately, Ben is walking on his own! We haven’t communicated with our Team Benjamin friends since November but Ben has made incredible progress since that time. Recently Ben has started to take INDEPENDENT STEPS on his own. Without a walker. Without holding anyone’s hand. It started with two steps . . . then 5 . . . then 10 . . . and recently Ben has taken up to 20 steps on his own....Ben Gets Candy!
Ben and Emily went trick or treating on Halloween dressed as the Big Bad Wolf and Little Red Riding Hood. This year was special because it was the first year Ben was able to WALK from house to house and collect candy. You can see a video of Ben walking up a driveway to collect candy below. Like other children his age, Ben started school in late August. This is Ben’s fourth year in the Avon School District’s “Soaring Little Eagles” program, which provides special education to children beginning at age 3. Ben spent two years in half day pre-school and now is entering his second year of all day kindergarten – each year in classes that include typical children but that also...Thank You!
From the bottom of our hearts, we want to thank you for the tremendous support you showed us as we worked to raise money and awareness for United Cerebral Palsy of Greater Cleveland. Together, Team Benjamin raised over $40,000, which helped “Team UCP” raise almost $190,000 through its participation in the Cleveland Triathlon!! Team Benjamin is going to run the Columbus Marathon on October 16th! Dad will push Ben for the entire 26.2 mile trip to raise money and awareness for two great organizations that are changing the lives of disabled children and their families; United Cerebral Palsy of Greater Cleveland and Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus.
