We want our friends and supporters to know that Ben will have hip surgery on June 28th, followed by six weeks in a half body cast.
In a big way, this sucks. A summer lost. We had plans full of typical family summer stuff – plans made more possible by the progress Ben has made over the last few years.

Or to put it more accurately, Ben is walking on his own! We haven’t communicated with our Team Benjamin friends since November but Ben has made incredible progress since that time. Recently Ben has started to take INDEPENDENT STEPS on his own. Without a walker. Without holding anyone’s hand. It started with two steps . . . then 5 . . . then 10 . . . and recently Ben has taken up to 20 steps on his own....

Ben and Emily went trick or treating on Halloween dressed as the Big Bad Wolf and Little Red Riding Hood. This year was special because it was the first year Ben was able to WALK from house to house and collect candy. You can see a video of Ben walking up a driveway to collect candy below. Please ignore the very large man in the elf costume!
