Like other children his age, Ben started school in late August. This is Ben’s fourth year in the Avon School District’s “Soaring Little Eagles” program, which provides special education to children beginning at age 3. Ben spent two years in half day pre-school and now is entering his second year of all day kindergarten – each year in classes that include typical children but that also provide special education programs and physical therapy.
Ben really loves school. From excitedly saying “car” while we are getting him dressed to the time we pick him up he really enjoys his day. And for good reason. Ben is provided an aide (Kathy Hall) who is with him all day. Pictured in this email is Kathy walking with Ben into school on his first day. Kathy is always so happy to see him in the morning and we know she really enjoys spending time with him. Just as important is the physical therapy Ben receives several times a week at school. Ben’s therapist is Cindy Dougher, who is also pictured with Ben working on his upper body strength. Cindy has been very instrumental in Ben’s development over the past couple of years.
It is great for us to send Ben to a place where he is so well taken care of and so loved, equally by his teachers, aides, therapists and the other children in the class.
Thank you to everyone in the Avon School District!!
